Narrabri is committed to making our tourism activities as accessible as possible, ensuring that people living with a disability can enjoy the region like everyone else. Narrabri Shire Council is currently developing an Accessible Tourism Strategy to ensure that our tourism industry is moving in the right direction. This strategy is designed to guarantee that our tourism industry is becoming more inclusive and accessible to people with diverse needs and abilities.
We have designed an exciting and inclusive accessibility adventure that invites everyone to explore the region’s stunning natural beauty and diverse cultural attractions. All the attractions on our accessible adventure page have wheelchair ramps, toilets, and parking suitable for people living with a disability.
Come and join us on this journey!

Sawn Rocks
From the carpark a 750 metre walking track offers an easy, wheelchair accessible all-weather stroll, through tall eucalypts, figs, wattles and delicate maidenhair ferns. An observation platform affords stunning views of the intriguing rock formation jutting starkly from the bed of the Bobbiwaa creek.
Doug Sky Lookout- Mt Kaputar National Park
Located halfway up Mount Kaputar, Doug Sky lookout provides the best seat in the house for sightseeing. One glimpse of this sweeping vista and you’ll understand why the area is known as Big Sky Country. The Accessible toilets are located in Dawson Springs Campground, just a 10-minute drive from the lookout.

CSIRO Australia Telescope Compact Array
For something completely different, what about a visit to CSIRO’s Australia Telescope? It’s also one of the most fascinating places in the country. Visitors to the Telescopes can explore exhibits and view updated videos. Free BBQ’s and a picnic area are also available.
Narrabri West Lake
For the energetic at heart, there is an accessible track on either side of the lake. This beautiful Strech of water is a haven for local and migrating birds. There is also a kid’s playground and many sheltered picnic areas.

Black Snake Distillery
Black Snake Distillery produces ASp, an Agave Spirit made in Australia, inspired by Mexican traditions, and is similar to Mezcal. It is handcrafted with wild, locally grown Agave Americana. The Distillery also produces its own gin. The distillery is open most afternoons; however, we recommend calling first.
Narrabri Region Visitor Information Centre
The Centre is brimming with fascinating information, delicious local and regional produce, and displays that will impress and captivate you. The highlight is a cotton display, which boasts a genuine giant red cotton picker that guests can climb into and “operate”.
