The picturesque Namoi River meanders through the Narrabri Region from Boggabri to Pilliga with many secluded fishing spots along the way. One such location is right in Narrabri along the banks of the Narrabri Creek. Whether you head down past the Violet Street bridge or just pick a spot off Cameron Park, the accessibility of this area accounts for much of its popularity.
The Tarriaro Reserve is another accessible fishing spot that’s sure to win your heart. Located just 15 kilometres from Narrabri along the Old Gunnedah/ Maules Creek Road the reserve offers an abundance of places to drop in a line and is a stunning spot to drink in the scenery while you wait for the fish to bite!
For those new to fishing, a visit to the Narrabri Fish Farm will have you leaving as a pro. The Farm is the largest freshwater aquaculture farm in New South Wales breeding native fingerlings and yabbies. The Fish Farm provides guided tours, taste testing, fish feeding, yabbying and fishing. Make sure you give them a call before you head out there.
Many of the other great fishing spots in the Region are on black soil access tracks and may be impassable, or at the very least sticky going, during or immediately after rain.
Remember: Bag limits and fishing licences apply in the rivers of NSW.
