Live

Home / Live, Work, Study / Live

Narrabri is located in the heart of the rich Namoi Valley in North West NSW and our way of life is simply relaxed and genuinely warm. Leave behind the stress and pressure of urban living and move to a thriving community that will provide you, your family and business with a vibrant and affordable country lifestyle.

We are renowned for the production of some of the world’s highest quality wheat, cotton, fat lambs and beef, and home to several research facilities, Narrabri Shire is truly an agricultural wonderland.

Our strong and dynamic regional centre supports an innovative and diverse business community experiencing significant growth opportunities.

In the next 7 years, Narrabri Shire is forecast to have in excess of $7 billion dollars invested under State Significant Projects and Capital Infrastructure Investment. Diversification, world class resources and commodities have been key to the region’s economic growth, increased employment opportunities and enhanced quality of life.

The area has expanded from its traditional agricultural roots to resource extraction and exploration. The advent of these new resource-based industries in conjunction with supplementary business is providing a range of commercial and employment opportunities for the Narrabri Region.

The Narrabri Region covers over 13,000 square km and services many towns, villages and localities each with their own unique character.

Other services included are Aged Care Assessment, Dementia Support, Alcohol and Drug Support, Generalist Counselling, Nutrition and Diet, Health Education and Promotion, Social Work, Women’s Health, Aboriginal Health and Maternal Health, Psychogeriatric and Maternity.

Education

Narrabri Shire proudly provides high standards of education from pre-school to an expanding Country Universities Centre Campus. Within Narrabri Shire there are both public and private (Catholic) primary schools and two High schools. All these offer a range of strong teaching and learning opportunities. After High School, tertiary education is available directly through TAFE, a University of New England Access Centre and the Northern Inland Community College.

Sports & Recreation

In 2001 Narrabri was identified as Australia’s Sportiest town by Channel Nine’s Today Show, based on the sports persons from the town and district. Over one hundred and ten Australian representatives and champions showcasing forty-four sports were either born in the Narrabri Shire or started their sporting career here. This is testament to Narrabri’s enthusiastic and diverse range of sports available to all the community.

Narrabri also features all the conveniences of the city including annual events, culinary treats, music and culture, plus an impressive theatre complex (The Crossing Theatre) that offers the latest movies, live performances, and also hosts one of the best weekday cafes in town.
