NarraBRIGHT returns to Narrabri on Friday 10 April 2026, inviting visitors and locals alike to get lost in the magic of an unforgettable night of light, art, food and community.

Transforming Narrabri’s CBD into an illuminated fantasy world, NarraBRIGHT blends dazzling light projections, interactive art installations, live performances and vibrant street activity into one immersive experience. Familiar streets become extraordinary as imagination takes over and fantasy comes to life after dark.

Set outside of daylight savings, NarraBRIGHT 2026 means more time to explore, more time to enjoy the lights, and more reasons to stay longer.

In 2026, NarraBRIGHT will expand its footprint to include the Narrabri Creek Pathway, with an illuminated trail guiding visitors through the heart of town.

2026 Theme: Fantasy

Where reality bends and imagination shines

The 2026 theme, Fantasy, encourages visitors to step beyond the everyday and immerse themselves in a world of wonder.

Light projections naturally blur the lines between what is real and what is imagined — transforming buildings, pathways and public spaces into storybook scenes filled with colour, movement and magic. Fantasy gives artists, performers and the community permission to dream big, creating worlds inspired by folklore, nature, futuristic visions and childhood imagination.

At NarraBRIGHT, fantasy isn’t just something you see — it’s something you experience.

Curated by renowned production company MandyLights, this immersive Light Trail weaves through the pathway behind Collins Park, Leitch and Hogan Ovals, inviting visitors on a magical after-dark journey.

Glowing sculptures, ethereal projections and dream-like illuminations will bring the landscape to life, blurring the line between imagination and reality. Designed for all ages, the Narrabri Creek Pathway Light Trail is a must-see experience that encourages exploration, connection and a sense of awe under the night sky.

Three stunning CBD building will be illuminated with vivid light projections that will captivate audiences.

Watch Narrabri’s CBD come alive as three landmark buildings are transformed by dazzling fantasy-inspired light projections — bold, immersive and unforgettable.

Step into two glowing sensory gardens by Creative Sensory Spaces where light, imagination and wonder intertwine. This light activation invites visitors into a fantasy landscape of twinkling fibre-optic lights, immersive moments and dreamlike visual worlds designed to slow you down, spark curiosity and awaken the senses.

Welcome to the Centacare Carnival Zone—a vibrant hub of colour, light and family-friendly excitement at NarraBRIGHT 2026. Follow the pathway into a playful space filled with inflatable interactive activities, fresh popcorn, icy slushies and fun lucky door prizes. Designed to bring people together, the Centacare Carnival Zone adds a glowing burst of community spirit to this year’s festival.

Children will decorate small fabric bunting flags using markers and gem embellishments, inspired by the 2026 Fantasy theme. Their flags will be added to a softly lit, fairy-themed display wall featuring sheer draping and hanging lights. This creates an evolving, magical community artwork that celebrates creativity and gives every child a chance to contribute to the festival atmosphere. Proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW.

The Magical Realm Quest is an immersive fantasy installation and scavenger adventure. Throughout the festival trail, hand-selected fantasy props will be suspended in trees and glowing locations, including floating crystal shards, hanging enchanted keys, delicate butterfly wings, lantern-style stars, blossoms and candle charms. Each item forms part of a magical quest word.

Children follow the hanging artefacts and scan each nearby QR code to reveal a riddle and a piece of the Realm story. Once all seven enchanted objects are discovered and recorded, young adventurers receive a crystal shard keepsake to symbolise the magic they helped restore to the festival. This installation combines visual wonder, storytelling and community participation to create a whimsical and memorable experience for families. Proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW.

Fairies will bring gentle magic to NarraBRIGHT through a walk-around activation featuring four Solasta student performers. They will roam the event space sharing tiny origami fairy blessings, carefully folded by Solasta students and containing uplifting messages, offering children a small keepsake and a moment of wonder. Proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW.

Create your own glowing spark in this interactive fantasy workshop. Craft an illuminated piece that will come alive later in the night as part of a magical Roaming performance. Proudly funded by the NSW Government’s Open Streets Program, led by Transport for NSW.

Spark Assembly: 7.30pm | Performance: 7.50pm

As darkness settles, gather for the awakening of Nova, the giant Fire Spirit. Hovering above the crowd with flaming wings and radiant movement, Nova embodies the raw beauty of fire and light — spreading wonder, awe and fiery magic wherever she roams.

At the Spark Assembly, participants bring their handcrafted illuminated sparks together, preparing for the moment when fantasy bursts into life. As the performance begins, Nova is joined by her glowing sparks — the audience’s own creations — igniting beside her as she awakens and begins her journey.

Accompanied by a rich ambient soundtrack and the playful energy of the Boom Spark characters, wearing backpack speakers, Nova leads a roaming parade through the space. Together, performers and participants dance with light, sound and movement, creating a breathtaking fusion of fantasy, community and spectacle that carries the night forward.

Developed through three artist-led community workshops, this mural is a collaborative reflection of Narrabri’s stories, landscapes and shared identity. Community participants explored the underbridge site, sharing memories and connections to the creek, parklands and surrounding sporting precinct to inform the mural’s design. Together, they developed symbolic motifs and a cohesive colour palette inspired by local landscapes, sporting heritage and community life.  The mural embraces a kintsugi-inspired approach — celebrating connection, resilience and the beauty found in coming together.
